Do you offer a free trial class.
Yes, the 1st time your child tries a class at North Port Gymnastics is free.
Can I sign up for a trial class online?
All participants need to be registered on our parent portal to participate in the gym. You can go to our website and click on the Registration/Parent Portal button, the link will take you to our parent portal. You will enter your information, student’s information and complete the waivers. You can sign up for a class if there is availability, you should only sign up for a trial class if it is within the week. Trials are set up to drop out of the class the day after the trial date is complete. We recommend not putting a credit card on file for trial classes, we can update this information when you come back for their first official class. If there isn’t any availability in a class time that you are interested in, you can try another time or sign up on the waitlist and we will call you as soon as a spot opens.
What should my child wear?
Most girls wear leotards to gymnastics class, but gym shorts and a tank top is okay to start out in. Girls should also make sure their hair is pulled back.
Boys wear shorts and a T-shirt.
The important thing is to make sure the clothing doesn’t have any buckles, snaps, or zippers that can catch on the gym equipment. Students practice with bare feet–no socks. No jewelry. All students must wear at minimum full tank top or leotard. Students get very sweaty so it becomes a spotting safety risk with only a sports bra on.

Do I have to stay on site during my child’s class?
If your child is under 5 years old, you must stay on site during their entire class. If your child is 5 or older, then you may leave so long as a cell phone number is on file with the front office and you are okay with your student being dismissed off the gym floor for the restroom and drinking fountain independently.
I have a sibling of a participant that does not attend a class. Any suggestions on entertaining them?
Yes! We have classes for children 18 months to 18 years of age, so a great way to entertain them would be to sign them up for a class as well. The first child is regular price then the siblings receive 20% off their tuition for their monthly tuition totals. If classes are not of interest we have picnic tables in the parent area, coloring books and crayons are available on request.
Do classes stop?
Our current schedule runs year-round. Your child will remain in the class until we are notified that your child will no longer be attending their class.

Yes, your child gets one make up per session. They can come to any other (same level) class on another day but you must call to schedule in advance. They can also come to Open Gym as their make up, you would not pay for open gym but if your child orders pizza the cost is $6.00. Make-ups need to be used within 30 days. For accounts that are 31 days past due you will not be eligible for make-ups until your account is brought current.
My child is very athletic and has participated in gymnastics, do I still sign my child up for a trial?
Depending on their experience we may put them in a higher-level class. We would recommend calling to discuss their skills for a better placement in a trial class. Team trials are available upon request, please email the gym to inquire.
My daughter is on a team out of town but we will be visiting the area, do you offer team drop-ins?
Yes, please email the gym with your information and we will let you know our schedule and availability. The drop in fee for team is $35 per day.

Please refer to the Team Handbook and follow the team coach’s schedule. We use Class DoJo to communicate with our team family members.
Can my child purchase grips?
We have grips for sale but it must be recommended by a coach. Students hands must be ready, meaning very calloused up prior to going into grips. Grips do not stop hands from getting “rips” as some would think, they are used when doing certain higher level bar skills.
Open Gym

We offer Open Gym almost every Friday night, see our annual calendar for closure dates. Children ages 18 months to 4 years old can attend open gym 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Parents go out on the gym floor with their child and are expected to stay with their kids the entire time. Children ages 5 and up can attend the open gym 6:00pm-8:30pm. Open Gym is not structured like our weekly classes, our coaches will open certain areas of the gym and the kids are free to have fun. We do ask that the kids work on skills that are within their capabilities. Our coaches act more like lifeguards and will rotate around the gym with very little spotting or one on one coaching. The cost is $6 for the one-hour Tiny Tumblers open gym and $17.00 for the kids ages 5 and up. Pizza is available if you wish and is an additional charge of $6 and includes 2 slices of pizza (cheese or pepperoni) and a juice box. There is no sharing pizza. Pizza is ordered at 6:30 so if you are running late just give us a call and we’ll count you in for pizza.

We follow Sarasota County School Calendar and if those days match up then your student can attend. Their calendars don’t always match up so please refer to our recreational calendar to verify dates.
What does my child need to bring on a camp day?
Campers must bring a packed lunch with an icepack and a water bottle daily. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. We have lunches available (just in case) for $5.00, parents can sign up at drop off if needed. Please do not rely on us to provide lunches on a daily basis, we understand that life happens so we make this available only if needed. Parents must sign up for lunch at drop off, students can be sneaky and will throw their lunch away or they will tell us that they do not have lunch just to order a mac n cheese, yes this happens.
Is there a registration fee for camp students?
A $40.00 registration fee is due (if not already a member) at the time of sign up. All summer camp students, regardless of previous membership are charged a $25 registration fee
What age does my child have to be to attend?
Our camp is available for boys and girls grades (going into) K-8.
What should my child bring for camp, is there anything they shouldn’t bring?
We recommend that each child bring a change of clothes in a labeled zip lock bag to leave at our facility. Please make sure their name is on all their belongings. Also, please leave all the toys and personal items at home, we will not be responsible for any lost or broken items. We no longer allow electronics at any time. If your child needs to use the phone they need to ask for permission first.
What does a day of camp look like?
Camp will include fun and games such as; gymnastics time, secondary sports and wellness activities, recreational games, puzzles, board games, arts and crafts, and movies. We have a very structured schedule that each group follows but allows them to go through the entire gym.
Do you go on field trips?
We do not leave the premises.
We do, however, offer water day every Friday for Summer Camp only (weather permitting). We will do this in the morning so campers can wear their bathing suits and please put sunscreen on your child before dropping them off. Make sure to plan and pack a change of clothes, shoes and a towel.
Do you provide a statement for camp fees for tax purposes?
Every January you will receive a statement that will include our tax id and the amount paid for childcare.
Aftercare
Do you offer aftercare services?
We offer aftercare for Imagine Elementary only. We meet students in the cafeteria and walk over to our facility. We offer time in the gym, homework/reading time and end the day playing games or watching TV. Pick up is available until 6PM. Charges are $70 per week or $15 per day.
Will you walk over if it is raining or storming?
We will walk if it is only a light sprinkle. If there is lighting and it is unsafe to walk we will wait until it clears up before walking over. We have been delayed a few times due to the weather. A few times the rain has caught us making our way over. We do recommend that each child has a small umbrella or rain jacket in their backpack to use if needed.
Does my student need to be registered for aftercare?
Students must be on our list in order to attend aftercare. You must notify your child’s teacher and the office to make arrangements prior to your child attending aftercare.
Do you offer full or part-time aftercare?
We offer both, you only pay for the days that your child attends. This process may change if our numbers start reaching close to capacity.
Private Lessons
Do you offer private lessons?
Yes, we can set up contact with a coach and you can work with them to schedule one on one lessons.
What is the cost?
The minimum fee is $35 for 30 minutes, cost can go up from there depending on coaches experience.
Can we do longer than 30 minutes?
Yes, but it is at the coach’s discretion, 30 minutes of continues lesson is more than enough for most students.
My child does not actively attend classes, can they still do private lessons?
Yes, you still need to do the online registration and pay the $40 registration fee to attend lessons. In the class section you may pick private lessons as they class. Out of respect for our local gymnastics centers, we do not offer private lessons for students from other gyms locally.
What should my child wear?
Boys wear shorts and a T-shirt.
The important thing is to make sure the clothing doesn’t have any buckles, snaps, or zippers that can catch on the gym equipment or interfere with coaches spotting. Students practice with bare feet–no socks, some cheerleaders will wear shoes, this at the coaches discretion and if shoes are worn they MUST BE clean. No jewelry, simple stud earrings only. All students must wear at minimum a full tank top or leotard. Students get very sweaty so it becomes a spotting safety risk with only a sports bra on.
What if I need to cancel my private?
Please notify the coach as soon as possible. Last minute cancelations will still be charged. Please realize that coaches are taking there own time to work one on one with your child and their schedule can not be easily altered without notice. Our coaches that offer private lessons are in high demand and often have a waitlist which makes their time and availability very valuable.
How do I pay?
You pay your coach directly.
